Our Mission

Good morning sweet Joy-Creators! I do think Sunday morning is my favorite time of the week. And spending it with you as you come here faithfully and pray for Alegria with me makes the morning even more precious. A hot cup of coffee, some puppy cuddles and quiet time with the Lord is the perfect way to start the week.
This week was our monthly leadership training and meeting with Honduras, and one of our main focuses was to keep the mission of Alegria as what we make all decisions from. What is our mission? It came from the whispered calling at 2am one December morning. "Start your own jewelry company and hire the young women from Faith Home." From that our mission statement is: Alegria Accessories exists to create safe, living wage jobs for women in Honduras who grew up at Faith Home. We want to create jobs that are good jobs for women and moms. We create trendy, high quality fashion jewelry for our customers, which we call Joy-Creators. And in Honduras, we say "Make every piece like it is the only piece, because to that customer, it is." Handmade jewelry is not the easiest to make the same over and over. Every piece is going to have the hand of the artisan influencing it. But isn't that one of the things that makes Alegria so special?! YES!
So now to our prayer request today. Would you join us in praying that we would refocus on our calling? That we would listen to the voice of God and make our decisions based on what He has called us to do? Pray that our hearts would be soft to Him and His leading, and to one another as we work together. Pray that our hands and feet would be strong and determined to work hard in what He has called us to do. Pray that we would mount up on wings like eagles and soar, that we would run and not grow weary, and walk and not faint.
At our meeting, I was given two names of Faith Home alums that are in need of jobs right now. There are numbers we have to hit in order to hire and we are close but not there. And I also have to be hired this year. Full time volunteer isn't sustainable for my family, nor is that good for Alegria. We are growing though. And we will continue to grow as you pray and continue to shop with us and share Alegria with your friends, family, church, coworkers, and anyone else in your circle. Thank you for praying with me over keeping the mission our focus and growing to be able to create more jobs.
